God loves a cheerful giver

No one should be worried about giving to support the things of God. I have seen people argue that giving is not scriptural. This argument is not true as scriptures have shown that God loves when humans give. From Genesis to Revelation, we see several instances of sacrifices made by humans to God or from God to man. God does not bless us with resources to hoard it. He has given us the resources to also be a blessing to the church and to the world. As we have stressed throughout this series on kingdom money mindset, your wealth should secure you eternal rewards. Therefore when you have the opportunity to give in support of the work of God through tithes and offerings, please take hold of the opportunity and be a blessing. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.(2 Corinthians 9:7) What should be our attitude towards giving? Paul admonished the Corinthians this way: “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:6‭-‬7). Paul’s advice can be compared to the act of planting. If you scatter your seeds generously, you get a bountiful harvest but if you hold back, your harvest is also affected. Again, giving should be a personal decision: have a plan on what to give. Your decision should not come from compulsion but from a cheerful heart. God loves the giver who gives cheerfully. Therefore anytime you give, you should give willingly to the Lord. If you give under duress, it is not from a cheerful heart. If you know that after giving, you will complain and nag about it, please do not give. Further, your giving should stem out of a grateful heart not a grudging heart. Understanding that God wants us to give cheerfully should influence our approach towards giving. If you struggle to give, please spend time studying the scriptures on giving. It will also be important to pray for insight into God’s principles on giving. Finally,  the Holy Spirit is our teacher, so ask Him to teach you the truth of giving. Know that we serve a generous God and He expects us to be generous believers.  God in His generosity to the world gave to us His one and only begotten Son to die for us. It cost God everything to show us His love. Be intentional about giving and do it cheerfully. Remain blessed.
