I know I can be a workaholic person and I hardly complain about being stressed out or tired. That is me… it doesn’t apply to everyone. However, yesterday was one of a kind day. I was so tired and stressed out. Before I finally retired to bed, I had to edit a paper that is due in 4 days. My body was tired, my brain was tired and I was just exhausted. But, I remembered my theme for the week… God’s goodness. Knowledge of what I have been studying this week gave me hope. I might not be a superwoman but God’s goodness has been available to me each day. Therefore, even if I am stressed, God is still good! We are quick to point out our challenges but what we should note is that the ability to sail through those challenges does not come from our tactical skills and experience. God’s goodness and mercy carry us through each day. When we are in the waters, He is good; in the valley, He is good. There has not been a single day in the history of the world that God has not been good. Therefore, we should constantly remind ourselves of the fact that we have a good and merciful God working all things out for our good. He has promised us in His word that, Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.(Psalm 23:6 KJV) Don’t quote Psalm 23:6 as a church cliché. It is the reality. Remind yourself each day as you dwell in the presence of the Lord, His goodness and mercy will be with God. In your business and your busyness, He is with you. In your success and your stress days, He is good. Whether you have achieved your dreams or you are still climbing the ladder of success, He is still good. Remember, His goodness and mercy shall follow us ALL the days of our lives. This includes the good and the not so good days, the happy days and the stressed out days. Instead of grumbling about what we can’t change, let us allow God’s goodness to reflect on what He alone can do. To reflect on: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. (Psalm 23:1-6 KJV)
Is God the shepherd of your life? If He is not, you cannot enjoy His goodness. If you are not sure of this, pray with me….
Dear God, thank You for sending Your Son to die for my sins. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and personal Savior. I confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that You raised Him from the dead for my sins. I reject the sins of my past and submit under the authority of Jesus Christ. Be my Shepherd today, tomorrow and forever. Amen.
