Our God Reigns!

In the midst of the daily queries that Christians encounter, one question echoes persistently: "If God is loving, why does suffering exist?" The answer, according to faith, lies in the acknowledgment that suffering entered the world through sin. A sin-free life, proponents argue, is found in accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. This acceptance paves the way for a daily commitment to please Him, relying on the Holy Spirit for guidance. Whoever reigns in your life directs the course of your life. The truth is you cannot have both God and Satan living within you at the same time. It is definitely one or the other. So before you blame God, ask yourself, “Who is the Lord of my life?”

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” ‭‭(Isaiah‬ ‭52:7‬)

The dichotomy of who reigns within us, whether God or Satan, is a pivotal point. It's a choice that dictates the course of our lives. The theological standpoint asserts that blaming God for suffering requires introspection—asking, "Who is the Lord of my life?" The divine outreach to humanity from the beginning, despite the fall, signifies God's unending love. Even when Adam and Eve confessed their sins, God, in grace, provided covering for their shame. The wages of sin is death (Romans 3:23) and Adam and Eve were not immune to the wages of their sins. However, God's grace brought forth a ransom and the fulfillment of that ransom for humanity came through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Those who accept the Lordship of Jesus have Him reigning in them. Their lives are directed by their Lord and Saviour and they strive to daily please their Lord and Saviour.

The essence of God's grace finds its culmination in the ransom brought by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Accepting His lordship means having Him reign within. Those who embrace this message become bearers of salvation, echoing the proclamation that "Your God reigns!" This divine reign shapes their lives, guiding them toward daily pleasing their Lord. The prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 52:7 proclaimed this: “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!””

Drawing parallels with the messengers of salvation to the oppressed nation of Israel, believers are called to share the good news. The historical narrative of Israel's oppression and deliverance becomes a metaphor for humanity's struggles and the possibility of liberation through faith. Isaiah's proclamation in 52:7 resonates—a call for those who bring good tidings, peace, and salvation. Most of us long to hear good news, to hear that there is peace in war torn areas and salvation for the oppressed. Even in the midst of a broken world, there are still people who daily bring good news, they proclaim peace and salvation. They say to a fallen and broken world,  the Lord still reigns in the affairs of men. As believers, we are the bearers of this great news. This Christmas, be a Christ Ambassador, bringing good news, proclaiming peace and salvation and telling those around you, “our God reigns!”

Take the opportunity to shade your faith with another. Be a blessing to someone. Share love. Share food. Share joy. Share peace, Share the message of salvation. Share Jesus!” The Advent season becomes an opportune time to share faith, extend blessings, and spread the transformative message of love, joy, and peace found in Jesus Christ. So, this Christmas, let us collectively be agents of positive change—sharing not only material blessings but the everlasting gift of salvation.
