See, I am doing a new thing

One of my favourite Christian songs as a child was “Do something new in my life”. My dad loved this song so much that every time he was called upon to minister or to lead prayers in church, we all knew that he would surely sing his signature song. When we refuse to accept change we dwell only in the past and the present and the future become obscure. Imagine a computer in the first century or traveling by horse from the UK to Canada in the 21st century. Some of us are still in the first century of our Christian life. We have refused to accept change. We have come to Christ but we still hold on to our previous way of life. If God takes you from Canaan to Egypt, so many things will change. The only permanent thing is that you have to be Christlike irrespective of where you find yourself. Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:18‭-‬19) God is always doing something new, He is always at work. In fact, scripture confirms that He neither slumbers nor sleeps. Meanwhile, dragging myself from my bed everyday demands two separate alarms. Man gets tired and weary, but God doesn’t. Therefore the Creator is always working for our good. Yesterday, we saw that there are times God will call us to move from a past life and move on to other things. Whether you move from a location or move away from any stifling situation, know that God has a plan for you. He wants us to “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Wherever God leads, He will make a way for us. Even in the desert, He will cause rivers to flow. On the barren lands, we shall harvest over a 100 folds, in the wasteland, we shall find streams and in the wilderness we shall find a way. Our part is to commit our ways unto God’s hands. He will definitely lead us to the path everlasting. In the last one year, I have come to realize that God always provides. He will never leave us in the valley… unless we do not cry into Him. I have come to realize that every good and perfect gift comes from above. You may not have your preferred house, job, money but God will give you each day your daily bread. As we step into our newness of life, let us know that whatever we entrust into God’s hands, He will surely keep. Don’t commit your head to God and leave your hands and legs to the devil. It is either you give God your all, or nothing. Be conscious of your relationship with God and be ready at all times to walk into the newness of life. He is doing a new thing, can you not see it?
