Taste and See!

For my birthday in 2020, I decided to have a pizza celebration. Few weeks later, I discovered that I was pregnant and ate pizza all throughout my pregnancy. My cravings for pizza was so high that I ate almost every type of pizza I could lay my hands on and concluded on which pizza is my favourite. Recently, we went to buy pizza and the lady at the counter asked if we had tried their signature pizza. I said ‘No’. Her reply was, ‘Taste and see’. I must confess that after tasting Shawarma pizza, I have come to a different conclusion. This scenario reminds me of one of king David’s Psalms. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.(Psalms 34:8) This Psalm was written at one of the lowest moments of David’s life. Saul was haunting him, David ran to a Philistine city and had to pretend to be mad so the king would spare his life. In this condition, David was very certain that the Lord is good. His certainty was based on the fact that he has tasted the goodness of the Lord. David was a mere shepherd boy but God mightily used him to kill Golliath and to defeat the Philistines on several occasions. David had tasted the Lord’s goodness and protection. He had experienced the mighty hand of God to rescue. Therefore, even at his lowest point, he knew that the Lord is good. Like my pizza story and David’s story, you can only proclaim the goodness of something or a person after you have experienced it or him. How can I taste the Lord? He is not a piece of pizza to be tried… Experiencing or tasting the Lord begins when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Savior. You begin an intimate relationship with the Lord and on a daily basis, you strive to live for him. Unfortunately, there are many Christians who are yet to taste the Lord. Such people are on their own course and have not committed to making Christ the Lord of their lives. So let us try this… Your daily prayer and solitude with the Lord✅ Your daily quiet time ✅ Your daily Bible reading ✅ Discipleship ✅ Fellowship with the Holy Spirit ✅ Fellowship with the brethren (church)✅ Doing good ✅ Showing love✅ And many more Let us experience God in a personal way. Taste of His goodness and be filled with His love.
