Today is the day the majority of the world celebrates fatherhood. Many men will be celebrated today by people they have impacted their lives positively. Meanwhile, the memories of some fathers still represent a dark moment in the lives of their children. As we celebrate Father’s day, we should remember to show our love to the father’s in our lives, make amends, restore broken relationships, forgive and if possible forget the painful past. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (1 John 3:1) Most importantly, we celebrate our Father in heaven whose great love extends beyond the limits of our earthly father’s love. The Apostle John invites us to “see what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him” (1 John 3:1). The Father has poured on us excessive love and because of His great love, we are called the children of God. Even if our earthly fathers failed to take responsibility, we still have the creator of the heavens and earth as our father. Whether your earthly father is rich or poor does not influence the love God has lavished on us. The only way to experience the Father’s love is to know him. The world (unbelievers) do not experience this love just because they do not know the Father. But, because of the Father’s love for the world, He sent His Son to die. Everyone who believes in the Son of God, has an everlasting life. In this world, a parent’s love is not eternal. David said that: “Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me” (Psalm 27: 10). Today, as we celebrate the men that matter in our lives, let’s celebrate our Heavenly Father who has never ceased to lavished on us His great love. This should be our prayer today: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” (Matthew 6:9-13) Happy Father’s day 💙
