Have you tried to do something for a long time and failed in all attempts? “Thomas Edison’s teachers said he was “too stupid to learn anything.” He was fired from his first two jobs for being “non-productive.” As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, “How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?” Edison replied, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.”(copied). I bet I would have given up even before getting to number 100. However, giving up would mean killing the dream and not seeing the reality of it. Every time you turn on your light bulb with one switch, remember that someone tried a 1000 times to get it done. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?(Luke 18:7) Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up (Luke 18:1). A poor widow’s consistency in pursuing an unjust judge led to her receiving positive response for her case. The widow didn’t give up when the judge ignored her first. She was consistent until the judge could no longer ignore her. “And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?” (Luke 18:6-7). I don’t know how long you have tried but failed. It doesn’t matter how many times you have been unsuccessful. What matters is that you keep going on. We are in the 11th hour and trust me that anything is possible. If Thomas Edison had stopped at the 999th attempt, he wouldn’t have had his name on the light bulb. The persistent widow didn’t give up at the first attempt. Let’s keep pushing on. God is faithful and even when it is quarter to shame..at the 11th hour… He will show Himself faithful to all who trust in Him. Wait… God is still at post To ponder: What have you almost given up on? “And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?”(Luke 18:7).
