The old order of things has passed away!

As a child, I never fancied the book of Revelation. It sounded like a retelling of a horror movie. As an adult, the book of Revelation happens to be one of my favourite Bible books. I have spent more time reading, listening and watching messages about this book more than any other book. Many people have my childhood opinion about the book of Revelation. For some, it is the absence of someone to lead them to full understanding, and to others, the refusal to accept that the wicked will receive eternal punishment at the end of the age. Remember, the word of God is living and active. No word of scripture will be unfulfilled! ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:4) Even as we consider the book of Revelation, let also meditate on the fact that at the end of the age, the old order of things will be no more. Whatever you are going through now, know that God will wipe every tear from our eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things will pass away. Only God is permanent, therefore we should live our lives in anticipation of eternity. What will be the eternal value of what you are currently doing? The knowledge of eternity and the newness it comes with should propel us to conscientize our minds with things of eternal value. For example, how will hating your brother and sister add value to your eternal currency? Will it add value or devalue it? Will loving your neighbor as yourself give you access to eternal value? These and many other questions should help us to live upward minded. When your focus is on the price of enjoying the newness of life in eternity, you strive to live right. To ponder Am I using eternal currency right? Are my actions adding or deducting from my account? Should I stand before God today, what account will I give? Remember so far as you have life, you also have the opportunity to make things right. Don’t wait until it becomes too late. Revelation is not a horror movie. It is the reality of the future. Heaven is real and so is Hell.
