In a few hours/days we will be celebrating Thanksgiving in Canada. We will eat, make merry and send some food to our friends and loved ones. Are we just celebrating the harvest season or there is something bigger to celebrate? As for me and my house, we will celebrate Thanksgiving in honor of the willing Lamb. Oh yes! Before the foundation of the earth was laid, the Lamb willingly allowed Himself to be slain on my behalf so that my sins will be washed away.
John the revelator recorded that “I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne (Revelation 5:6-7). Only the Lamb was worthy to open the scroll for no one was found in Heaven and on Earth who was worthy.
So as I celebrate Thanksgiving, I am mindful of the fact that the willing Lamb took my place so I can be set free. I don’t take it for granted that the Lamb willingly allowed sinful men to slay Him so I can be free from the curse of sin and the law. Therefore, I willingly offer my sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to the Lamb of God. He alone deserves my adoration each day.
And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:9-10)
May this song from Michael bless your day. Indeed the Lamb is worthy of our thanksgiving.
