Introduction
The words of Jesus are unmatched. No other words of anyone compares to the words of Jesus. As you read and reflect on the statements made by Jesus, it is amazing how much life is contained in every word spoken by Jesus.
Matthew 4:4: Today's focus is to take a look at Jesus statements in Matthew 4:4
Matthew 4:4 “But He answered and said “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”
Meaning: It is not only physical food that humans need to survive. More than food, we also need the Word of God. To continue feeding your body with food and ignoring your intake of the word of God means you are depriving yourself of life.
Also note that Jesus is not saying eating is unimportant or not necessary.
Application: Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
Commit to a daily intake of the Word of God. Everyday a word from Jesus must enter into your heart.
Personal application: My quiet time each day will look at one statement of Jesus for the rest of this year. I will take it Gospel after Gospel. I am now on the Gospel according to Matthew.
