Few years ago, I faced a rollercoaster of events that made me so sad and at a point quite difficult to even pray. I felt like God was not listening to my prayers. In my lowest moments, my husby-to-be (I had a few months until my wedding) encouraged me to praise God. Anyway, I listened to him and praised God in the midst of all my worries and then boom… things started turning around. I went from not knowing what to do, to having enough choices to determine what to choose. Was God not aware of my worries? Was my faith being tested? All I know is that when I thought all hope was gone, God turned my life around. In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.(Job 1:22) There is one man in scripture whose story always brings me to a point of wow. Job is not your everyday God-fearing person. His piety was extraordinary and he even interceded for his children in case they had sinned by their actions. However, whenever we personify suffering in scripture, we allude it to Job. His life was turned around in a day because God testified about him to Satan. In his intense suffering, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing. Job lost all his wealth, children, his skin was crushed, his wife turned against him and his best friend’s charged him with evil. In all these, Job did not lose faith in God. There are days of evil that may cause us to lose faith and give up on God. I pray that in 2022, God will deliver us from evil. In case we are faced with challenging situations, may God Himself show us the way out. I pray that God will shepherd us by his rod and staff and comfort us on our lowest points. I also admonish you to be ready to praise at all times even when the situation is not praiseworthy. Remember, the tall and mighty walls of Jericho were brought down with praise. God dwells in the praises of His people. Praise Him at all times and watch out for the walls in your life come down. God is faithful. I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Psalms 34:1-8
