Your needs and His riches

Imagine standing in front of the biggest grocery superstore in the world and being very hungry. Everything you need to meet your hunger is inside the store but you do not have the means to pay. Suddenly, the owner of the store appears and informs you that you can go and take whatever you need from the store. How much can you take? At that moment, comparing your need to the massive superstore, you realize that your desire is relatively insignificant. But, that tiny need is what gives you sleeplessness and worry. Similarly, let us compare our needs in the light of God’s riches. Our needs in comparison with His glory cannot even be compared.  So why do we still have needs knowing that our Father in heaven got the whole world in His hands? Does God care about us? Indeed, when you go through difficult times in life, it might feel like God does not care. Sometimes we look at the mountains of needs we have and we tend to feel all alone. God does care and even in the midst of our difficult times, He walks through with us. Sometimes I wonder, “why doesn’t God just rain food down on the poor?” “Why do we have to pray for such a long time before some needs are met?” Now, let’s consider these, “if we daily wake up to gather food rained from heaven,  what will be our relevance on earth?” “If we do not pray, would we ever trust God for answered prayers?” We are also channels God uses to bless others. The reason you are rich is not just to satisfy your needs. God expects the rich to be a blessing to the poor. When you have enough, you are expected to help those who have less. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). We are a reflection of God’s glory. Be a light in someone’s life today. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19) God’s riches are not limited by location. He shows up everywhere and everyday. Whenever we are at our wit’s end, we should know that He is up to something. Keep trusting the owner of the world to show up. When we receive from God, we should be intentional to bless others with our resources. When you are up for God’s blessing, He goes all out to bless you. God uses even the unlikely people to turn your life around. Afterall, He owns all the wealth and the riches of the world is His. If you are trusting God for a breakthrough, do not give up. Continue to grow your relationship with God, be intentional about investing into your work, be diligent with your business, consider ways of expansion, and never cease praying. Remember, what Paul said in Philippians 4: 19, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). I pray that we receive that testimony we are looking forward to. May God supply all our needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus. Amen.
